Since we’ve been in the off season, news from Wonderland, TX has been a little slower of late.
Needless to say, that’s about to change…
Friday (that’s February 26) Morgan’s Wonderland will begin a new chapter in its story, as the park opens for its seventh season. Over the last few years I’ve been privileged to support the park as a writer, photographer, volunteer, and elf (you really had to be there), and it’s been thrilling to watch it grow. And with Morgan’s Inspiration Island set to open next year, they’re not done yet.
It’s not just the grand gestures, either. If you’re at the park this weekend (and I hope you will be), you’ll catch a glimpse of the park’s newest ride, an accessible Ferris wheel called the Whirling Wonder. They’re putting the finishing touches on it, and it’s expected to open in March. But the rest of the park will be ready at 10am this Friday (more info, as always, at the park’s website and Facebook).
Then, on Sunday (February 28), The Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland will present its second annual student art show, at Pinot’s Palette (7959 Broadway, #402, San Antonio, TX 78209). It’ll be happening from 4:00pm-6:00pm, with refreshments and a silent auction.
I always enjoy the art shows and exhibits. It’s fun, and not a little inspiring, to see the hard work and creativity the students bring to their work. So I hope you’ll be there on Sunday.
There will be a lot more happening at the school and the park in the coming months, so watch this space for all the details.
Thanks as always for your support!
